CAB SETS HEARING DATE ON ACCIDENT AT COLUMBUS, OHIO

 

The Civil Aeronautic Board today announced that it would held a public hearing seeking to determine the cause of an air collision accident between an American Convair 240 aircraft and a Navy twin-Beech aircraft, which occurred near Port Columbus Airport, Columbus, Ohio, on June 27, 1954.) Both occupants of the Navy aircraft were killed, but the crew and passengers on the American Airlines Convair were injured.

 

The Board will convene the public hearing on Tuesday, July 27, 1954, at 9:00 A.M. local time at the Deshler Hilton Hotel, Broad and High Streets, Columbus Ohio.

 

Mr. Vernon Radcliffe, Assistant to Vice Chairman Harmar Denny, will represent the Office of Members on the hearing panel, which will also include five staff members of CAB's Bureau of Safety Investigation, as follows: Thomas K. McDill, Hearing & Reports Division, Presiding Officer, to be assisted by W. K. Andrews, Director, Bureau of Safety Investigation; Gordow R. Matthews, Assistant Chief, Investigation Division; W. D. Markey, Investigation and Operation Specialist; and R. P. Parhsall, Investigation-in-Charge, CAB Kansas City Office.
